It’s that time of year again and Louisville Central is just packed with great playgrounds.
Here are just a few parks to try this Spring.
- The Parklands - This amazing park system has 5 connected parks in one! Starting slightly south of 1-64 with Beckley Creek, then the Pope Lick Park, The Strand connects Pope Lick with Turkey Run Park, and this continues to Broad Run Park. Free and easy parking, playing field, bike and running trails, fishing location, numerous playgrounds and spraygrounds, educations centers and more, this park system has over a thousand of acres of things to do with your family this spring.
- Thurman Hutchins Park - This is a wonderful park that is part of Waterfront Park and features a playground, picnic shelter, walking path and restrooms. - 3734 River Rd. Louisville, KY 40207
- Veterans Memorial Park - This is a family favorite park located on 25 acres in the heart of Jeffersontown. There is a newly installed playground with stroller and handicapped access areas, a renovated restroom, recreation trail for a walk/run, pavilions for picnics, easy and free parking, and military memorial displays.- 10617 Taylorsville Rd. - Brown Park - This park has a play area designed for ages 2-6 years, large pavilion with picnic tables, grills, water fountain, port-a-pot restrooms, free parking and family events throughout the year - 1000 Browns Ln, St Matthews, KY 40207
- Cherokee Park - Cherokee is my absolute favorite park in all of Louisville! It’s packed with hiking/walking/running trails, playground, picnic shelters/tables, grills, dog run, spray ground and more -745 Cochran Hill Rd. Louisville, KY 40206
- Douglass Park - A small but perfect park has a playground, basketball and picnic tables. - 2305 Douglass Blvd. Louisville, KY 40205
- Crescent Hill Park - This park is HUGE and has everything! It’s located on 77 acres (a lot of those acres belong to a golf course) and had a playground, picnic tables, swimming and spray ground and more. - 3110 Brownsboro Rd. Louisville, KY 40206
- Germantown-Paristown Park - This park sits on about half an acre and has a playground. Short and sweet but everything you need! - 1134 E Kentucky St. Louisville, KY 40204
- Seneca Park - This one of Louisville’s gems! This park has everything including horseback riding, golf, lacrosse fields, and field hockey!! For our kiddos, though, they will most likely be enjoying the playground, picnic table, basketball, hiking trail, and restrooms. - Tyler Park - This 13-acre park includes a playground, picnic shelter/table, grill, walking path and spray ground. - 1501 Castlewood Ave. Louisville, KY 40204
- Skyview Park - Cute little spray park and playground near the baseball fields in J-Town is a wonderful area for our family as we watch our kids and friends play at the ballfields. Amenities include a playground, pavilion, concession (during games), trail and spray park!- 2700 Watterson Trail Jeffersontown, KY 40299
- Des Pres Park - In addition to the walking trail, playground, handicapped accessible play areas, and tennis courts. There is also picnic tables and a picnic shelter, basketball courts, and some ballfields. This is part of the Louisville Metro park system when summer activities are held, including free movies.
