2019 Cultural Pass

The Cultural Pass provides free access to many of Greater Louisville’s arts and cultural institutions for children up to age 21 who reside in Metro Louisville. The Cultural Pass is valid for one-time general admission at each of the participating institutions and will be valid from June 1 to August 10, 2019. Created from Vision Louisville in 2014, this innovative initiative promotes art and culture and works to improve summer learning and reading across Greater Louisville. Basic Cultural pass details: 

  • Passes may be picked up at a Louisville Free Public Library location or a Metro Parks Community Center starting June 1. 
  • Passes are good June 1 – August 10, 2019. 
  • Starting on June 1st pick-up your Cultural Pass at any Louisville Free Public Library and participate in the summer reading program!

  • ASIA INSTITUTE – CRANE HOUSE - Fridays 1-4 pm. Ages 7-18 - Starts on June 7th. 
  • BERNHEIM FOREST - Daily, 9am-4pm. All ages.
  • COMMONWEALTH THEATRE CENTER (make reservations early!) -  James and the Giant Peach, June 28 July 12, 19, & 26; August 2 & 9. commonwealththeatre.org. Click on the CULTURAL PASS button for reservation info. All ages.
  • FILSON HISTORICAL SOCIETY - Tours, Scavenger Hunts; Mondays 1-4pm. Ages K-12. Lectures, Fridays - July 12, 29, 26; August 2, 9 - 12 pm
  • FARMINGTON HISTORIC PLANTATION - Guided Plantation tours.  Wednesday & Thursday 10am-3pm. Ages 6-21.
  • GIRL SCOUTS OF KENTUCKIANA - Scientifically Awesome Art, Tuesdays 10-11:30 am. Ages 5-11.
  • JEWISH COMMUNITY OF LOUISVILLE INC. - Israel Scouts Tzofim Friendship Caravan’s engaging entertainment of singing, dancing, and celebrating Israel. July 17th, 10am & 1pm. All ages.
  • LOCUST GROVE - Tuesdays, 10am-3pm. Ages 6+.
  • LOOKING FOR LILITH THEATRE COMPANY (make reservations early) Participatory drama workshops for children 4+ and parents. July 1 & Aug. 3 10-11:30am (ages 4-8)  & June 13 2-3:30pm. Ages 11-21.
  • THE LOUISVILLE ACADEMY OF MUSIC: 65 years of Music; July 28, 2-5pm. Ages 0-21.
  • LOUISVILLE CHORUS: June 2 -Disney Muscial Fantasy - 3p; July 2 - Fanfare for the 4th - 7:30 pm
  • LOUISVILLE CIVIC ORCHESTRA: June 26th - 7p- 10p  Concert- Big Four Lawn
  • LOUISVILLE NATURE CENTER -  Monday - Saturday 9a- 4p - 2 mile hiking trails through an urban forest. Ages 0-21
  • LOUISVILLE FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY -Summer Reading Program; Ages 0-19, LFPL.org/SummerReading
  • LOUISVILLE WATER- Visit WaterWorks Museum; Wednesdays 10am-5pm & Sundays 10am-3pm. Ages K-12.
  • LOUISVILLE ZOO - Mondays- one-time free general admission; parking is not included and is $5 per vehicle. Ages 0-11.
  • MUSEUM OF AMERICAN PRINTING HOUSE OF THE BLIND - Mon-Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm, Sat 10am-3pm. Factory tours Mon-Thu, 10 am & 2 pm. Ages 6+.
  • SACRED HEART SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS: FREE Musical Theater Classic Movie on Tuesdays 5:30 - 7:30 pm; June 21st Alice in Wonderland Jr.  10:30 am & 4:30 pm  - Ages 3-18
  • STONEWARE & CO: Guided factory tour - Monday, Wednesday, Fridays 10:30 am & 1:30 am - Ages 5-21
  • STAGEONE FAMILY THEATRE - StageOne Storytellers showtimes are June 16, June 30, July 14, all shows at 10:30 am, Louisville Free Public Library- Main Branch Auditorium. All ages.

Other things to know:

  • Participants 0-21 can get a Cultural Pass
  • The pass is good for one-time general admission
  • One adult will get in free with the children who have passes
  • Children and families can track their progress online via the LFPL Cultural Pass website. Kids can win prizes!!
  • It’s for family use, not for groups
  • Check and confirm the specific dates for each venue.  Locations will set specific cultural pass dates, times, specific shows and concerts.
  • You don’t have to live in Jefferson county to participate, you just simply have to have a LFPL card. For example, if you live in Oldham but work in Jefferson…….your pay stub, business card or employee ID card earns you access to LFPL cards for your family. Or, if you own property in Jefferson County, you are eligible. There is also a list of counties and if you live within one of them, you are eligible to purchase a LFPL card.
