Anime Con at the Main Library

July 28, 2019

Just for teens ages 12-19, AnimeCon is a FREE day-long festival at the Main Library that encourages cultural exchange by celebrating Asian culture, cosplay, and Japanese-style animation. This year's convention features a screening of the popular Yuri on Ice, complete with tea party and indoor "ice"-skating rink. Attendees of AnimeCon 16 can also compete and win prizes in the sixteenth annual Ramen-eating and cosplay contests, learn the art of shibori with artist Elmer Lucille Allen, listen to Japanese ghost stories, attend a K-Pop glow-in-the-dark party, and do Anime inspired crafts.

AnimeCon 16 is Friday, August 2, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Main Library (301 York Street). Teens ages 12–19 can register for this free convention at LFPL.org/animecon.

AnimeCon closes out Louisville Free Public Library's annual Teen Summer Reading Program, encouraging teens to read for fun during the summer. Summer Reading and AnimeCon are made possible through funding from The Library Foundation. For more information on library programs and services for teens, visit LFPL.org/teen.
