Summer Reading and Cultural Pass Program

Begins June 1st, 2020

May 18, 2020

he Library's annual Summer Reading Program and the Cultural Pass return for another summer full of exciting stories, entertaining activities, and lots of fun. Everyone who completes Summer Reading will receive a throwback backpack, free passes for local attractions (when they re-open), and free treats, as well as be entered into grand prize drawings. But because of COVID-19, both programs will be a little different.

In-person programming at libraries and Cultural Pass venues has been suspended, so the programs are moving online for the summer. LFPL will offer regularly-scheduled virtual programs each week via the Library’s website and Facebook page with storytimes every Tuesday and STEAM Club every Thursday (both at 11 a.m.). PLUS, we have an exciting surprise we will announce later next week!

Participating Cultural Pass venues will create online content that will provide a virtual experience. You will need to register for the Cultural Pass in addition to Summer Reading to access this added online content.

The Library's annual Summer Reading Program is FREE and presented by the Library Foundation. The 2020 Cultural Pass is FREE and presented in partnership with Metro Government, the Fund for the Arts, Arts & Culture Alliance, and the Library.

What about books? -- Because all LFPL locations are currently closed we are working on creative ways to get books into kids' hands this summer. While we hope to begin curbside pick-up of library materials this summer, we don’t know when that will begin. In the meantime, we will be distributing books at designated JCPS feeding sites and select community partner sites. These books will be for you to keep! Stay tuned to the Library’s Facebook page and website for more information.
