2020 Drive Thru Kindergarten Kick-Off

August 2, 2020

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, many schools will start virtually this fall, but that doesn’t mean the transition to kindergarten for thousands of area youngsters is any less important. That is why the Louisville Free Public Library is joining with Metro United Way and Norton Healthcare to host a Drive-Thru Kindergarten Kickoff!

All rising kindergarteners and their families are invited to join us at the South Central Regional Library for a drive-thru celebration on Thursday, August 6, from 5 – 7 p.m. Every soon-to-be kindergartener will receive a free tote bag, “I’m Going to Kindergarten” t-shirt, a copy of "Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten," and a JCPS activity book with information for parents, courtesy of Metro United Way. Norton Healthcare will be giving out free dental packs, complete with toothbrushes and information on the importance of proper dental care for young children. And the Library will be handing out free books for all children—kindergarteners and their siblings—courtesy of the Library Foundation.

In accordance with all COVID-19 safety guidelines, participating staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and the event is drive-thru only to minimize contact. To learn more about the Library’s Drive-Thru Kindergarten Kickoff, visit LFPL.org/kids or call (502) 574-1611
